You can simply submit work to the client every few hours, and if they feel like they're getting a good value, they're not going to care that you don't use the time-tracking software. I've had contractors tell me that, and it's up to me to decide whether to work with them or not. If you simply tell prospective clients that you don't use the time tracker and only use manually-logged time, then that's the end of it. LOTS of Upwork contractors either work only using fixed-price contracts, or only using manually-logged time for hourly work. So, if I was logged 1 hours, and spent just 2 minutes in the app I should be working in, the client will see that something might be wrong, without checking my family photo on the Windows background or what music I'm listening to, Viber messages, or the work I've done for the other clients, which are more often than not basically competitors.Īs others have pointed out, you totally do NOT need to have software take screenshots of what you're doing. To solution would be to "register" the app(s) that the majority of work will take place in for a particular project, and measure (and screenshot) the activity on them. This is the most stupid way to handle things. I just found out that deleting the screenshot deletes the time as well, and it is outrageous. I often search the web for references, so everything in my browser is exposed, accounts, e-mails, social media. While I save or copy files, my computer folders, preview images and whatnot are exposed, and many of them are from other projects which I do not want someone to see, especially because of confidentiality.
